The mineral beryl is a beryllium
aluminium cyclosilicate with the chemical formula Be3Al2(SiO3)6. Emerald and
Aquamarine are 2 forms of Beryl. Trace amounts of other minerals, including
metal oxides, determine the color of Beryl. Green beryl is called emerald,
red beryl is bixbite or red emerald, blue beryl is aquamarine, pink beryl
is morganite, colorless beryl is goshenite, yellow beryl is golden beryl,
yellow-green is heliodor. Red beryl is extremely rare and is mined primarily
in Utah.
